Addiction Recovery
Music therapists use a variety of music-based interventions to help residential and out-patient clients improve their mood, discuss issues, find solutions, socialize, de-stress and find clarity as they emerge from the fog of addiction. Most adults respond positively to music and will happily participate in music therapy sessions. Because music has the potential to go where words cannot, clients will often share things during music therapy sessions that they might not in traditional talk-therapy sessions. Music therapy helps clients connect to something they value while they’re in treatment. The therapist helps internalize that value and helps it grow.
Goals for clients in addiction treatment include:
-
Developing personal insight
-
Normalizing the environment
-
Socializing in a positive setting
-
Expressing thoughts and feelings
-
Improving mood and energy level
-
Improving self-esteem and self-awareness
-
Revealing suppressed or subconscious thoughts and feelings
Our therapists understand the sensitive nature of addiction recovery. We have experience working in treatment settings and bring the professionalism that your client’s deserve.
